Group Description
Crohn's and Colitis Australia Support Groups are mutual aid groups, which means that all of the members of the group, including the facilitator are impacted by Crohn's or ulcerative colitis (IBD) in some way. Support Group meetings provide a safe and supportive environment where individuals impacted by IBD can express themselves openly and receive support and understanding from others with similar experiences. Studies conducted regarding Chronic Illness Support Groups indicate that compared to non-participants, there are significant benefits such as: a more positive outlook on life, greater satisfaction with their medical care, increased self-esteem and, reduced feelings of shame and isolation.
Who can Join
Anybody living with Inflammatory Bowel Disease whether they are a patient, carer, parent, family member. No children under 16 years of age.
