Support us to support others
In challenging times or circumstances, people need to belong and feel secure knowing they’re not alone. Sharing information and emotional support breaks down social isolation and reduces loneliness and depression. When you support SGQ, you support people taking charge of their health and wellbeing. Fund our work and help groups, access speakers and crucial services. As a registered charity, all donations are tax-deductible.
Dollars for deeds
We allocate your donation directly to things that make an immediate difference. Donating means more when you can trace your funds to a tangible difference. Here’s how some amounts contribute.
$30 funds a coffee catch-up for carers. Help keep our carers resilient by allowing them to share experiences and work through difficulties and solutions.
$50 funds a one-on-one coaching session for a volunteer group leader. Help our valued facilitators learn to run an effective group and get the most out of it.
$100 funds a bilingual worker to support a group meeting in another language. Help keep our groups accessible for all language speakers by funding bilingual translators who make meetings possible in any dialect.
Choose your donation amount. Don’t see a set number that suits you? Any amount you can give will help us help people find their way through times of challenge.
Become a monthly supporter. Change the future for a support group by setting up a monthly donation. Help us make support groups stronger through practical assistance and access to skilled facilitation.
Make a donation
Your donation directly sustains strong support groups, provides practical assistance for members and equips group leaders with the latest expertise and techniques to run successful groups. With your contribution, we train our facilitators in everything, from governance and COVID safety skills to how to handle difficult disclosures and referral pathways.
Your gift allows us to keep our 1,000-strong register of Queensland support groups up-to-date. We track group activities throughout the community so anyone can connect with the right group to help them find solace and grow past stuck points.
Your donation helps pay for an experienced worker to take the pulse of each group. To achieve better outcomes these professionals advise on the necessary steps to enhance and encourage optimum health and wellbeing. They can also determine whether the group needs more resources and bridge practical or personnel gaps.

Research Projects
Self Help and Support groups are always part of any society, and it seems that every so often we rediscover their usefulness. Changes in society and technology open up new opportunities and challenges for research. We welcome collaboration with university students to undertake research projects with our organisation.
There is a vast range of potential research opportunities, relating to the evidence base for peer support including strength and recovery, community orientation, and the increasing use of technology, such as online or remote support.
