Group Name: Crohns & Colitis Australia Support Group - Brisbane - Paddington

Group Description: Mutual aid groups, which means that all of the members of the group, including the facilitator, are impacted by Crohn's or ulcerative colitis (IBD) in some way. Support Group meetings provide a safe and supportive environment where individuals impacted by IBD can express themselves openly and receive support and understanding from others with similar experiences. Studies conducted regarding Chronic Illness Support Groups indicate that compared to non-participants, there are significant benefits such as - a more positive outlook on life, greater satisfaction with their medical care, increased self-esteem and, reduced feelings of shame and isolation.

Who can Join: Anybody living with Inflammatory Bowel Disease whether they are a patient, carer, parent, family member. No children under 16 years of age.

Services: Monthly Support Groups aim to reduce personal distress and strengthen the belief that, with support you will be able to manage your unique personal challenges of living with IBD.

More Info: There are more than 75,000 people in Australia affected by IBD and this number is expected to rise by more than 23% in the next decade.

Group Focus: Provide support services, advice and encouragement for people living with inflammatory bowel disease.
